All four members of Queen wrote hits songs. Freddie Mercury wrote piano based songs, John Deacon wrote great songs not all bass based. Brian May wrote guitar based songs.
Roger Taylor who wrote the most amount of solo songs started out writing one song per album 

Brian May along with Freddie Mercury were the main songwriters especially in the early days
