"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" is a song by the rock band Queen. Written by Freddie Mercury in 1979, the track is featured on their 1980 album The Game, and also appears on the band's compilation album, Greatest Hits. The song peaked at number two in the UK Singles Chart in 1979, and became the group's first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. in 1979, remaining there for four consecutive weeks; it would be the start of Queen's popularity in America.[4][5] It topped the Australian ARIA Charts for seven weeks.[6]
Having composed "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" on guitar, Mercury played rhythm guitar while performing the song live, which was the first time he played guitar in concert.[7] Queen played the song live between 1979 and 1986, and a live performance of the song is recorded in the albums Queen Rock Montreal and Queen at Wembley.[8][9] Since its release, the song has been covered by a number of artists. The song was played live on 20 April 1992 during The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, performed by Robert Plant with Queen.[10] The style of the song was described by author Karl Coryat as rockabilly in his 1999 book titled The Bass Player Book
As reported by Freddie Mercury in Melody Maker, 2 May 1981, he composed "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" on the guitar in just five to ten minutes.[12]
'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' took me five or ten minutes. I did that on the guitar, which I can't play for nuts, and in one way it was quite a good thing because I was restricted, knowing only a few chords. It's a good discipline because I simply had to write within a small framework. I couldn't work through too many chords and because of that restriction I wrote a good song, I think.
— Freddie Mercury
The song was written by Mercury as a tribute to Elvis Presley.[13] Roger Taylor added in an interview that Mercury wrote it in just 10 minutes while lounging in a bath in the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich during one of their extensive Munich recording sessions.[14] Mercury took it to the studio shortly after writing it and presented it to Taylor and John Deacon.[7][15] The three of them, with their then new producer Reinhold Mack, recorded it at Musicland Studios in Munich. The entire song was reportedly recorded in less than half an hour (although Mack says it was six hours).[16] Having written "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" on guitar and played an acoustic rhythm guitar on the record, for the first time ever Mercury played guitar in concerts, for example at Live Aid at Wembley Stadium, London in 1985

Queen - Tear It Up from the 1984 album The Works - guitar play along with the record.
Guitar Tablature on screen to make learning to play this classic Queen track easier
The second track, "Tear It Up", is May's song, and the demo features him doing the vocals instead of Mercury. It was written as an attempt to revive Queen's old sound. It features stomping percussion similar to "We Will Rock You" that drives the song. When performed live during The Magic Tour, May would play the intro from "Liar" then go into the beginning of the song.

Queen - Hangman from Live At Tokyo 1975
This video is guitar play along with on screen guitar tab as opposed to a guitar lesson.
The main riff is based on an A5 D5 C5 chord progression.
Additional Info
Performed live between 1970 and 1973, and even as late as 1976. The official Queen Archivist (Greg Brooks) has stated that no studio recording of Hangman exists in the archives, however a private collector claims that they own a studio recording existing in the form of an acetate.
According to another private collector, who asked Brian about this song in the early 1990s, a letter exists where Brian confirms that Freddie wrote the lyrics and Brian wrote the music.

Queen - Stone Cold Crazy - Guitar Play Along with Guitar Tab
Queen - Stone Cold Crazy - Guitar Play Along with Guitar Tab
from the 1974 Sheer Heart Attack Queen album.
"Stone Cold Crazy" is a song by English rock band Queen from their 1974 album Sheer Heart Attack.[6] The song is the eighth track on the album. Although the song was not released as a single at the time, it was played live at almost every Queen concert from 1974 to 1978.[7][8][9][10] "Stone Cold Crazy" also features on the band's 1992 compilation album, Classic Queen.[11]
The song credit is shared between all the members of the band, although Freddie Mercury played it with his band Wreckage in the late 1960s before Queen was created. The recorded version may be lyrics from Mercury and music from Brian May. It was the first song Queen performed live in 1970, but it underwent many changes musically and lyrically before getting recorded, resulting in credit going to the entire band. Early versions of the song were much slower, according to the band, although no bootlegs exist.

The Cross - Top Of The World Ma - (Roger Taylor Queen) Guitar Tab Lesson
The Cross (Roger Taylor Queen) Top Of The World Ma guitar cover with guitar tablature
In this video I play along with the track from the 1990 Cross album Mad Band And Dangerous To Know
The main riff is very similar to Led Zeppelin Whole Lotta Love and is based in B minor
video by James Rundle Of Rock Licks Guitar Tuition In South Shields
Mad; Bad; and Dangerous to Know was the second album released by The Cross, appearing in 1990. Unlike the previous album, which contained some dance influences, this one is a straight rock album. This was the first album to which each member of the band contributed, though Roger Taylor's contribution was considerably smaller because he was busy promoting The Miracle.[citation needed] Unusually, (Clayton Moss) sang lead vocals on one track, instead of Taylor.
Like Shove it, the album sold poorly and EMI Records decided to drop them so they had no label anymore in the UK.
In Germany, a limited box set (only 50 were made) was released which contained a CD single, video, stickers and press information

The Cross - Power To Love - Guitar Tab - Roger Taylor
Roger Taylor band The Cross - Power To Love from the 1990 album Mad Bad And Dangerous To Know
In this video I play guitar along with the record. The video has on screen guitar tablature to make learning easier.
The song was also performed by Queen and Paul Rogers Live
After finishing Queen's 1989 album The Miracle, Taylor went into the studio with the rest of The Cross for the first time to record Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know. The band composed the opening track "Top Of The World Ma". The rest of the album consisted mainly of individually written songs, except for "Power To Love" which was a joint venture by Macrae, Noone and Moss. Clayton Moss sang lead vocals on his own track "Better Things", and Spike Edney played mandolin on "Final Destination", which was written by Taylor. "Final Destination" was released as a single, as were "Liar" and "Power To Love", the latter being the last single to be released in the UK by the group. "Final Destination" came with a live rendition of Taylor's song "Man On Fire" as a B-side, and "Liar" (Noone) had a brand new track, "In Charge Of My Heart", which was also penned by Taylor. The song based on improvisations by Freddie of 2nd part of the song "Stealin'" - B-Side of "The Miracle (album)". The 12" single and CD of "Liar" also included extended remixes of both "Liar" and "In Charge Of My Heart". The instrumental section at the beginning of "In Charge Of My Heart" was used as the opening to concerts on the accompanying tour. "Closer To You" (Edney) had been planned to be released in America, but the idea was never discussed again. The group having seemingly given up on the UK market, the accompanying tour only included dates in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Ibiza. Unusual for such tours, every song from the new album was played live.

Queen - Keep Yourself Alive - Guitar Play Along with guitar tab
Queen Keep Yourself Alive
This video is a play along with the classic track from the Queen self titled debut album from 1973
On screen guitar tab to help with learning the track.
The guitar solo is adapted for one guitar
"Keep Yourself Alive" is a song by British rock band Queen. Written by guitarist Brian May, it is the opening track on the band's debut album Queen (1973). It was released as Queen's first single along with "Son and Daughter" as the B-side. "Keep Yourself Alive" was largely ignored upon its release and failed to chart on either side of the Atlantic.
In 2008, Rolling Stone rated the song thirty-first on its list of "The 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time"
According to Mark Hodkinson, author of Queen: The Early Years, "Keep Yourself Alive" was conceived on acoustic guitars during Queen's practice sessions at Imperial College and the garden at Ferry Road in 1970. At the time Queen had not yet found a permanent bassist; the group consisted of guitarist Brian May, singer Freddie Mercury and drummer Roger Taylor. In a radio special about their 1977 album News of the World, May said he had penned the lyrics thinking of them as ironic and tongue-in-cheek, but their sense was completely changed when Freddie Mercury sang them.
The first version of "Keep Yourself Alive" was recorded in summer 1971 at De Lane Lea Studios. It was produced by Louie Austin and includes the intro played on Brian May's Hairfred acoustic guitar. All of the song elements were already present, including call-and-response vocals by Freddie Mercury (verses) and during the break, where Roger Taylor sang a line and Mercury answered it. This demo version remains Brian May's favourite take of the song.
Subsequently they did several attempts to "recapture the magic" when they went on to do the "real" version at Trident Studios. The one mixed by Mike Stone was the only one moderately accepted, and it's the one released as single. It includes Freddie Mercury doing all of the harmony vocals in the chorus (multi-tracking himself) and Brian May singing the "two steps nearer to my grave" line instead of Mercury (who did it live and in earlier versions). This recording does not use acoustic guitar; the printed transcription on EMI Music Publishing's Off the Record' sheet music lists at least seven electric guitar parts, one of which uses a prominent phasing effect. It can also be noted that this recording includes the line "Come on and get it, get it, get it boy, keep yourself alive," which was not in the original version.

"These Are the Days of Our Lives" is a song by the English rock band Queen. Although credited to the whole band, it was largely written by drummer Roger Taylor, and is the eighth track on the band's 1991 album Innuendo.[1] Keyboards were programmed by the four band members in the studio, and conga percussion (a synthesised conga) was recorded by their producer David Richards (although it was mimed in the video by Roger Taylor).
It was released as a single in the United States on Freddie Mercury's 45th birthday, 5 September 1991, and as double A-side single in the UK three months later on 9 December, in the wake of Mercury's death, with the seminal Queen track "Bohemian Rhapsody". The single debuted at #1 on the UK Singles Chart, and remained at the top for five weeks.[The song was awarded a BRIT Award for "Best Single" in 1992.
"These Are the Days of Our Lives" hearkens back to similarly themed 1975 Queen song "Love of My Life", twice using the line "I still love you". At the end of the song, Mercury simply speaks those words, as he would often do in live versions of "Love of My Life.

Queen - Mother Love - Guitar Solo Lesson Tutorial with guitar tab
How to play the guitar solo from Mother Love by Queen found on the 1995 album Made In Heaven
In the key of G Minor this Brian May solo has a clean sound with passing notes giving a harmonic minor feel to it
This video lesson has on screen guitar tab to make following the video easier
This was the last song Freddie Mercury recorded. May explained in the Days of our Lives documentary that "Freddie would say 'give me words, I will sing' so there I was writing on scraps of paper these lines of 'Mother Love.' I would give him a line, he would sing it, then sing it again, then sing it again - so we only had three takes of everything. After he'd finished the second verse, he said 'Oh I don't feel too well, I'm going to go home and we'll finish it tomorrow'... and he never did. That was the last time I saw Freddie in the studio."
The final verse was written and sung by Brian May a couple of years after Mercury died in November 1991. (thanks, Kyle - Dallas, TX)
Roger Taylor is a particular admirer of this song. He notes in the Days of our Lives documentary: "I'm hearing the voice (Freddie's voice) getting... weaker. But I mean he still hits all the notes. There's an absolutely spine-chilling note in the middle of "Mother Love" ("out in the city, in the cold world outside, I don't want pity, just a safe place to hide") which is just a great bit of singing."
The lyrics were co-written by Freddie Mercury and Brian May. It is one of the few times in song that Mercury seems to admit his inner pains and struggles of dealing with AIDS ("I'm a man of the world and they say I am strong, but my heart is heavy and my hope is gone") - the other key one being "The Show Must Go On."
The random bursts of sound throughout the song and the strange end sounds are small segments of every Queen track ever recorded sped very fast through a tape machine and mashed together. They combine at the end with samples of Mercury's famous 'deh-doh!' vocal interludes with the crowd from Live at Wembley 1986, the synth intro to "One Vision," and a sample from his very first single, "Goin' Back" in 1972, which he performed vocals on under the pseudonym of Larry Lurex. In the context of the song it is obviously meant to show the cyclical nature of life and death, and a man looking back across the entire spectrum of his life and career.

Queen - It's A Hard Life - Guitar Solo Tutorial Lesson with guitar tab
"It's a Hard Life" is a song by the British rock band Queen, written by lead singer Freddie Mercury. It was featured on their 1984 album The Works, and it was the third single from that album. It reached number 6 in the UK Singles Chart and was their third consecutive Top 10 single from the album. It also reached number 2 in Ireland and number 20 in the Netherlands. It also came 19th on a poll, The Nation's Favourite Queen Song broadcast on ITV on Tuesday 11 November 2014.
Composition
The opening lyric and melody of "It's a Hard Life" is based on the line "Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto!" (Laugh, clown, at your broken love!) from "Vesti la giubba", an aria from Ruggiero Leoncavallo's opera Pagliacci.
Musically, the song recreates the feel of "Play the Game" in order to update the story,[1] utilising Mercury's piano playing and the band's characteristic technique of layered harmonies. It is recorded very much with the ethos of earlier Queen albums in that it features 'no synthesizers'. By that time the band had been using synths on record since 1980's The Game and the gesture of returning to the traditional Queen sound was comforting to some fans.

By that time the band had been using synths on record since 1980's The Game and the gesture of returning to the traditional Queen sound was comforting to some fans.
Tim Pope's video which accompanies the song has been created in an operatic "style," with the band and extras appearing in period "operatic-style" costume. The video also featured an unusual "skull and bones"-themed guitar that cost more than £1,000,[2] played by May, which can be seen on the single cover.
The band found the costumes hot and uncomfortable, and the "eyes" on Mercury's outfit were ridiculed by the others, saying he looked "like a giant prawn".[2] Both Brian May and Roger Taylor groaned out loud when shown this video during their commentary for the Greatest Video Hits 2 collection. Taylor said it was "the most stupid music video ever made." May pointed out more positively that the video was an ironical take, as it portrayed Mercury as a wealthy man singing about how hard life and love are, and at that point Mercury in real life possessed great wealth but was still searching for love.
Taylor, by his side, remarked that he'd "actually loved the song, but hated the video." Despite this, the video was posted on the band's official YouTube channel.
One of the extras in the clip is German actress, Barbara Valentin.

Queen - Man On The Prowl - Guitar Cover with guitar tab
Queen Man On The Prowl Guitar Cover with on screen chords and guitar tab
Based on G C D chord progression and in the key of G
Following "It's a Hard Life" is "Man on the Prowl", a three-chord rockabilly Mercury composition (similar to "Crazy Little Thing Called Love") in which Mandel plays the piano ending. Note that "Tear It Up", "It's a Hard Life", "Is This The World We Created...?" and this song are free of synthesisers. May played the solo using a Fender Telecaster. This was planned as the fifth and final single from the album, with a provisional release date of 19 November 1984,[6] and promotional copies were indeed pressed (QUEEN 5) and sent out (b/w "Keep Passing the Open Windows"), but the band opted for a Christmas single ("Thank God It's Christmas").

I can Hear Music & Goin’ back. These songs were recorded during Summer 73 by Freddie,Roger and Brian to kill time when they were waiting for any available studio to work at their debut album. A Trident producer Robin Cable was working at this Beach boy song and thought Freddie’s voice was perfect for that song.Goin’ Back was an old Goffin & King song.

From the 1974 Sheer Heart Attack album I've arranged this ballad for acoustic guitar

"Lily of the Valley" is a song by British rock band Queen, which was originally released on their third studio album Sheer Heart Attack in 1974. "Lily of the Valley" features Mercury playing the piano and providing all of the vocals. The song has a reference to "Seven Seas of Rhye" in the line "messenger from Seven Seas has flown to tell the King of Rhye he's lost his throne". "Lily of the Valley" was released as a single the following year in 1975, but failed to chart anywhere. the B-side of the single was "Keep Yourself Alive". The song is one of the album's few slow ballads.

Queen - I Want To Break Free Live Wembley 86 - Guitar Tutorial Lesson
How to play the Live At Wembley 86 version of I Want To Break Free guitar lesson tutorial
The live version differs from the 1984 track found on The Works album
This video contain guitar tablature to make learning the John Deacon written track
The studio version famously has a synth solo which is played by Brian May on guitar in the live version
"I Want to Break Free" (About this sound sample (help·info)) is a song by British rock band Queen, from their eleventh studio album The Works (1984). Written by bassist John Deacon, it was distributed as a single on 7-inch and 12-inch vinyl records and 3-inch and 5-inch CDs. The song had three versions: album, single and extended, differing in length by more than a factor of 2. It came to be included in most live concerts by the group, in several videos, and in The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert where it was sung by Lisa Stansfield.
The song is largely known for its music video for which all the band members dressed in women's clothes, a concept proposed by Roger Taylor, which parodied the long-running British soap opera Coronation Street. The second part of the video included a composition rehearsed and performed with the Royal Ballet and choreographed by Wayne Eagling. Whereas the parody was acclaimed in the UK, it was considered controversial in the US and banned by MTV[1] and other stations. After its release in 1984 the single of the song was well received all over Europe and South America, where it was listed within top ten and regarded as an anthem of fight against oppression. The single reached only the 45th position in the US charts, but reached number 3 in the UK and was certified silver with 200,000+ copies sold

Queen - Was It All Worth It - Guitar Tutorial Lesson (with guitar tab)
How to play Queen - Was It All Worth It Guitar Tutorial Lesson
From the 1989 Queen Album The Miracle with classic Brian May guitar solos played on the Red Special Guitar
This takes a look at the whole song and includes guitar tablature
Freddie Mercury wrote this with lyrical ideas by the other 3 band members. The song is semi-autobiographical.
Freddie Mercury did the orchestral interludes note-by-note done on a Korg M1 keyboard.
"Was It All Worth It" was composed by Mercury. The song harks back to the band's intricately produced sound in the 1970s. Though the bulk of the song was masterminded by Mercury, all members contributed ideas and lyrics (for example – Taylor contributed the line "we love you madly!"). Deacon later cited the song as his favourite on the album. Taylor uses a gong and timpani.

"One Vision" is a song written and recorded by the British rock band Queen, first released as a single in November 1985 and then included on their 1986 album A Kind of Magic. It was originally conceived by Roger Taylor.
The song has been speculated to be inspired by either the band's "show-stopping" performance at Live Aid earlier in 1985, or by the life and exploits of Martin Luther King, with the lyrics recounting a man battling and overcoming the odds. In the 2011 BBC documentary, Queen: Days of Our Lives, Taylor stated his lyrics were "sort of half nicked off Martin Luther King's famous speech."The song's music video featured a "morphing" effect of the band's famous pose in 1975's "Bohemian Rhapsody" video to a 1985 version of the same pose. The song was included in all Queen's live concert performances of The Magic Tour, as the very first song of each concert.[They claimed they chose "One Vision" as the introduction song because its intro made a perfect concert introduction.
